Early Life
Ranveer Singh had always wanted to be a Hindi film actor since his childhood. In 2010, Ranveer Singh made his first acting debut in a lead role in Yash Raj Movie’s romantic comedy titled Band Baaja Baaraat. The film was a commercial and critical success, earning Ranveer Singh a Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut.

Ranveer Singh next re-teamed with the Akhtars in Gully Boy (2019), inspired by the life of the street rappers Divine and Naezy. Ranveer Singh found little in common with his character of a poor man who aspires to become a rapper, and in preparation, he underwent rap workshops and spent time with both Divine and Naezy. Ranveer performed his own rap songs and was pleased that the film brought attention to India’s underground music scene. The film premiered at the 69th Berlin International Film Festival and Gully Boy won a record 13 Filmfare Awards.
Ranveer Singh reprised his role as Simmba in Shetty’s action film Sooryavanshi, which saw a 2021 release due to delays induced by the 2020 coronavirus pandemic. Ranveer will next portray the role of the former Indian men’s cricket team captain Kapil Dev in Kabir Khan’s 83, a sports film based on the 1983 Cricket World Cup. Ranveer’s upcoming movie also includes Takht which reportedly features an ensemble cast including Kareena Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Bhumi Pednekar, Janhvi Kapoor, and Vicky Kaushal. He will team up with Yash Raj Films once again for the comedy Jayeshbhai Jordaar.
