Early Life
Kartik Tiwari (later Aaryan) was born on 22 November 1990 in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. Both of his parents are in the medical profession. His mother, Dr.Mala Tiwari is a gynecologist, and his father, Dr.Manish Tiwari is a pediatrician. He has taken his engineering degree in biotechnology from DY. Patil College of Engineering, Navi Mumbai. He stated that to give auditions, he would miss his lectures and would drive for two hours to reach the place of the audition. Karthik Aaryan started his modeling career while he was still a student. After being rejected in many auditions he then decided to take an acting class at the Kreating Charakters institute. Karthik Aaryan made his acting debut in Luv Ranjan’s movie Pyaar Ka Punchnama (2011), which also starred Divyendu Sharma, Raayo S Bakhirta, and Nushrat Bharucha and is about the romantic struggles that three young guys go through, which was a big hit amongst the youth. On Facebook, he discovered a casting call for the movie and after putting effort and trying for six months he finally got the role in the movie. He shared an apartment with 12 other aspiring actors at the time due to his limited financial resources, and he made money by cooking for them. His character’s four-minute monologue in Pyaar Ka Punchnama was one of the longest single shots ever made for a Hindi movie at the time. Karthik Aaryan finished his engineering degree after the release of Pyaar Ka Punchnama because his mother insisted he complete his education. Two years later, he was again given the opportunity to work with Ranjan and Nushrratt Bharucha in the romantic film Akaash Vani (2013), which follows the titular couple who are split up when Vani gets married to an abusive husband.
Karthik Aaryan played the lead role in Ranjan’s comedy Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 in 2015. This sequel featured Omkar Kapoor and Sunny Singh in addition to several of the original cast members, including Karthik Aaryan and Nushrratt Bharucha. He gave a single-shot monologue that was even longer than the first one, lasting seven minutes. The film’s portrayal of female roles was criticized by Mike McCahill of The Guardian, but he said the humor between Karthik Aaryan and Nushrratt Bharucha’s characters was its best aspect. Despite seeing the sexist elements, Shubha Shetty-Guha of Mid-Day thought some of it was “uproariously entertaining.” As a supporter of gender equality, Karthik Aaryan claimed that his role did not reflect his values when asked about the misogyny in the movie.
